Surrounded by Hundsberg, Gamlitzberg and Eckberg in the heart of the South Styrian Wine Route lies the Weinschmiede 18′, a traditional yet modern winery with a long history.

Founded in 1772 as the Tscherne winery, the old building has been stylishly and contemporarily renovated and expanded with the addition of guest rooms, a wellness area and the wine and culinary lounge – the Achtzehner – in a modern ambience and turned into a real gem.

An oasis of leisure and well-being that invites you to linger, enjoy and discover. Simply southern Styria “at its best”.

Gustav Strauss and his brother Karl from the neighboring Strauss winery jointly cultivate around 40 hectares of vineyards, of which around 7 hectares belong to Weinschmiede 18′ itself.
With the Hundsberg and the Gamlitzberg, our wines come from some of the best sites in southern Styria. Grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller and Chardonnay, which we also call Morillon, thrive here. In a very special microclimate, favored by the sun, altitude and soil conditions, impressive wines are created that have a different character every year. Our “signature wines” therefore include the southern Styrian classics par excellence: Sauvignon Blanc, Muskateller and Chardonnay. And these can not only be enjoyed in the Weinschmiede 18′ in front of the fantastic panorama in the Achtzehner or at a tasting, but also at home in your own four walls thanks to our store. PS: A few bottles of South Styrian wine “from the farm” are always a nice souvenir from your vacation or excursion!

We create wines with character and a feel-good atmosphere in the middle of the Gamlitz vineyards. With a lot of love and commitment, we have built up another mainstay with the Weinschmiede 18′ and breathed new life into this magical place.

Weinschmiede 18 is the perfect base from which to discover southern Styria. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills, it offers the ideal place for relaxation and adventure in the region.

The Weinschmiede 18′ is the perfect starting point for many attractive excursion destinations in the surrounding area – a day trip to Marburg in Slovenia, the Styrian capital Graz and neighboring south-eastern and western Styria offer many opportunities to discover and experience. Walks and hikes, as well as golfing and e-biking – everything is possible with us. So that you don’t have to worry about anything, we also offer suitable packages for e-biking and golfing – reservations, tips, maps and much more included.
